6/11/2015

Comments

On October 11th the “Friday Chopsticks” crew visited the last European concert of Infinite’s “2015 INFINITE EFFECT” world tour, which took place in Germany’s capital city, Berlin. In the article below we will share the concert experience with our Bulgarian and foreign fans.

The concert took place in Berlin’s Columbiahalle – an indoor concert venue which has hosted numerous legendary concerts throughout the years from big names such as Uriah Heep, Apocalyptica, OneRepublic, Lenny Kravitz and many more. It was now high time for a k-pop industry big name, such as Infinite, to make its appearance on Berlin’s stage – since their debut in 2010 the boy band proved their increasing popularity all around the world.

[ARRIVING AT THE VENUE]

As soon as our crew arrived at the venue we were able to see just how beloved Infinite was even in Europe. Hundreds of fans were braving the cold weather outside the concert hall, hoping to get a glimpse of their favourite k-pop band. After a few short interviews we discovered that fans from all parts of the continent had come to Berlin just to witness Infinite‘s impeccable live performance, proving their undying dedication to the group. The loyal and ever growing fan base included admirers from the Czech Republic, France, Slovakia, Poland, Bulgaria and even Russia.

[THE CONCERT EXPERIENCE]

Finally, after waiting in a queue for about two hours, we got inside the concert venue. While anticipating the show to start, we were able to enjoy all of Infinite’s hit song music videos being played on a large white curtain, placed just in front of the stage. The audience got hyped up even before the band’s entrance on the stage with fans singing along fervently and chanting to their favourite songs. At last, after the hype reached its peak, the video playing came to a halt. After the audience saw the silhouettes of all Infinite members being projected from behind the curtain, the atmosphere in the hall changed entirely. High-pitched screaming of excitement filled the air, energizing the entire venue. The concert was about to begin!

Infinite opened the show with a grand dance performance of some of their biggest hits – “BTD”, “Paradise” and “Be mine”. Fans were following along, swinging their neon light sticks in the air, creating a beautiful yellow ocean. The concert track list included performances by Infinite H, Infinite F, a solo by Woohyun, as well as leader Sunggyu performing his solo album title track “Kontrol”. The fans were also able to enjoy a new unaired before MV version of Infinite’s hit song “Last Romeo”, as well as witness a splendid live performance of a brand new song, named “For you”.

The fan-service during the show was a pleasant surprise, which exceeded our wildest expectations. Starting from Myungsoo’s gentle smile, Happy virus Dongwoo’s hyperactive behavior and cheerful vibe, Hoya’s cute attempts at speaking German, leader Sunggyu’s adorable eye smile, maknae Sungjong’s manly demeanor, Sungyeol’s interaction with the fans and, finally, Woohyun’s cute apology about giving an imperfect performance after hurting his toe, created unforgettable memories, engraved in our hearts forever.

Unfortunately, due to a leg injury, Hoya was not able to take part in most of the dance routines, making fans worry about his health. Despite the staggering pain he made a great effort to entertain the audience throughout the concert, together with his fellow members. We wish Hoya a fast recovery! Take care of your heath, Infinite!

[OVERALL CONCLUSION]

During  “2015 INFINITE EFFECT” world tour stop in Berlin our Bulgarian crew was able to witness one of the most unforgettable k-pop concerts we have ever attended. We were deeply impressed by Infinite’s hard work on stage, their top-notch dance routines and perfect singing skills. We are also grateful for their friendliness towards the fans, which, I am sure, melted the hearts of many! We are looking forward to the next Infinite concert in Europe and wish them all the best and good luck with their future activities!

East European Comic Con what we saw and what to expect!

6/11/2015

East European Comic Con is a multigenre convention held annually in Bucharest, Romania. It is the largest event, dedicated to fans of comics, Japanese animations – anime and manga, board games, video games, as well as TV series and movies in East Europe.

The event is inspired by the biggest event in that area - San Diego Comic-Con International. The beginning is in 2013, when the first edition of the festival gathers the unprecedented number of around 9 400 visitors. During the two days of the festival the fans are presented the opportunity to participate in a Cosplay costume contest, LOL championship, Quiz Contest, Art contest, to meet and talk with over 20 well-known artists and meet some of their favorite actors. The same event takes place in 2014 as well and has even greater success, gathering over 22 000 visitors, which is more than double the number of the first edition of the festival. The timetable is richer and the VIP guests, attending this year include names like Jason Momoa, whom we are familiar with from the blockbuster “Game of Thrones”, Marh Sheppard, who played the King of Hell in the popular TV series “Supernatural”, Natalia Tena, Ian Churchill etc. This year the big dates are 8, 9 and 10th of May, the place – Romexpo and the scales and the number of expected visitors are simply breathtaking. The event offers all kinds of entertaining activities in which the visitors may take part in. Here are some of the most intriguing activities, according to Friday Chopsticks’ team

Surely one of the most anticipated elements of the convention are the, so called “Panels”. Like the western panels, which we see at the large festivals, the ones in Romania are going to be part of East European Comic Con as well. The panels are sessions with people from the industry, who answer concrete questions, asked by the audience. Therefore this is the perfect opportunity to get to know better your favorite idol and personally find out interesting details about them, their plans and everything else you would like to know. Last years’ star list included Yaya Han, Kamui, Jason Momoa, John Rhys-Davies etc., which set the bar quite high. The people, organizing the event surely realized that and therefore this years’ guest list is even more thrilling, and includes Vsauce1, Manu Bennett, Robert Knepper, Osric Chau and many more! All panels can be accessed for free if you have the 3 day ticket for the event!

This year we’ll also see another famous part of all respected festivals worldwide – Artists’ Alley. It lets the artists show their fascinating creations like paintings, comics and accessories to a vast public and even sell them to the fans.

Another exciting element of EECC’s timetable is The Quiz Competition. The event itself is going to be held in the main hall and is similar to a TV show with questions and answers, yet ones only in certain areas, like Anime, Manga, Gaming, TV Series, Comics etc. That is the perfect chance for the superfans to show off their knowledge and compete on who’s going to list more trivia facts about their favorite Game, TV show or Comic book.

The gaming part is also well known to the vast public and will be well-presented on EECC. Some of the best teams from East Europe are going to compete with each other and try to be number one in the contest. The highlighted games this year are Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, League of Legends and Hearthstone.

We reached the definitely most anticipated part of the event for many of the fans and mostly the attending otakus - the Cosplay costume contest! This one is going to be in two parts, one for solo cosplay and one for group one. Both categories are supervised by an international jury, including 3 very experienced cosplayers, which will judge and evaluate the quality of the presented costumes and the stage performance of each and every participant.

We have heard that there will be quite a lot of Bulgarian competitors in all of the contest and are keeping our fingers crossed and wishing lots of luck to all participants and especially compatriots!

See you there!
