Introduce yourself.
Hey my name is Caro, also known as Aonir, I'm 26 years old and living in Hamburg, Germany right now and working as a Visual Merchandiser.
How and when did you start cosplaying?
I started cosplaying in 2004, when I was 14! But I took a break for several years, during my teens. Since 2011 I'm back with lots of passion!
Why do you cosplay?
It’s stressful, expensive, sometimes depressing… :D just kidding! I like to be creative, working with different materials and there is no feeling which is better than finishing and wearing a self-made costume!
How do you choose the characters you cosplay?
Mhhh... I choose them in different ways. Sometimes they are my favorite characters I really want to become, sometimes I only like the design, because it’s pretty :D and sometimes there is a missing character for a group.
What’s the toughest costume you’ve made?
Legion Commander from Dota 2 I’d say. My first full body Armor :)

Which one is harder: the part where you make the costume or the one where you try to act like the character?
Well I’d say the part where I make the costume, because I never really try to act like them.
What's the best part of cosplay for you?
Wearing the finished costume I worked on for weeks/months.
Do you find yourself thinking people are "too old" for cosplay?
Nah, I’m an old person in the cosplay scene on my own, haha.
How old is too old?
You are never too old to do stuff you love!
Your thoughts on cosplay bullying?
Something completely unnecessary. Live and let Live :)
Are you currently working on some costume?
I'm remaking some parts of my Windranger cosplay I made for Dreamhack Winter 2016, so I can wear it again with full satisfaction.
If not, what is the next cosplay you are planning?
Until now there is only one cosplay I want to do next year: D.va, but there are wishes added every day :D
Tell us about the conventions in your country.
In Germany there are a plenty of conventions, mostly all with cosplay contests. But the scene is very young, so with my 26 years I'm one of the oldies there! I can really recommend the Connichi in Kassel, by far my favorite convention!
5 random things you love and 5 you hate?
Love:
Animals, Food, Dota 2, Cosplay, Family.
Hate:
Olives, injustice, stepping in something wet with my socks on, public transport ;__; , animal abuse.
Top 5 games of all time?
Dota 2, Final Fantasy 8, Starcraft 2, Age of Empires 3, Sims ;)
P.S.: Big thanks to everyone who read the interview, if you have further questions don’t hesitate to contact me on my Facebook page!
I'm also open for bookings and photoshoots ♥
